After installing Monterey 12.2 today the Brother printer software for my P Touch QL 570 label printer which I have used through many OS updates immediately crashes on attempting to open. Installed QL 570 firmware patch from Brother website for 12.2. Brother advises all other applicable latest running and operating software (PTouch editor) is now only available free from the Apple store. I already had the latest version of that before Monterey installed, but after it repeatedly crashed I deleted and downloaded it again. That did not solve the problem. Latest software available through Apple store was last revised 7 months ago. Any suggestions on what to do now?

The Brother PT-P700 printer is nothing short of a standard P touch label printer that works out monochrome products with excellence and no faults. Furthermore, the label printer uses the thermal transfer print technology for black and white printing of documents to produce quality output. The speed of the printer, on the average, is up to 70.9 inches per minute.

The Epson LabelWorks LW-Z5010PX can't print from macOS systems, but that's just about the only feature this compact (6 by 7.6 by 7.8 inches) printer is missing. It can print from Windows PCs; from iOS and Android devices; or as standalone printer, using an unusually large QWERTY keyboard for a label printer and a 4.25-inch touch-screen display. It also prints on any of roughly 150 tape cartridges that mount inside the printer, plus 35 bulk rolls that mount externally. Most of the bulk rolls are 147.6-feet long continuous tapes. According to Epson, they save about 30% in running cost compared with its internal tape cartridges.
The printer itself is a stylized box measuring 3 by 7.7 by 3.3 inches (HWD) and designed to look good sitting on a desk. It can connect by either USB or Wi-Fi, which lets you print from a PC, a phone, or a tablet. Labels feed (through a slot in the back) at suitably fast speed, even when using Wi-Fi. We measured the X1040 at 7.1 seconds for a single 4-by-6-inch label and 91 seconds for 50 labels (3.4ips). A nice touch is that it will work with labels from most manufacturers, not just Rollo's labels.
In most instances when using a label printer app, the printer tells the software what type of label roll is loaded in the printer. In turn, the software displays predesigned templates for several different label types. You can then fill in the blanks as-is, redesign the template, or start fresh and create your own custom labels.
In many cases, in addition to using the symbols, borders, and other design options built into the software, you can also import clip art and sometimes even photos (which print in monochrome on monochrome printers, of course) into your label layouts. Look at authoritative reviews of label printers for more details on the efficacy of their bundled software, if any. (Hint: We have lots of them.)
the D450 doesn't seem to provide a way to print a simple label (white/black .7" media) with white foreground text and black background. So I dounloaded the P-touch editor and found that it doesn't either. But... It allows image imports, so I selected the black/white media, typed my text, did a cropped screen grab of what I wanted then imported that black background/white foreground image back into the white/black media setting and printed what I wanted. You can also import a black image for instance then put your white text over that! So while it was a hassle, and brother in the p-touch editor should enable changing the "Background color to that of the label - I was able to with the PIA workaround. :-)
I've been using some version of Brother's P-Touch editor for years. It's a clunky interface, but it keeps getting better. No where near 5-stars yet, but it's a solid 3-4, and I'm ok with 4. Cursor navigation, cut and paste, CTL-arrow doesn't take you anywhere. You have to navigate text with trackpad/mouse or arrows. I have a bunch of Brother printers, and can't rename them in the software. Instead I printed labels to match the static IP addresses I had to create for them. The printers themselves are solid products, but they don't work as one would expect -- a topic for the hardware, not software, reviews.
I'm sure when I used the P-touch editor before it had the capablity of setting up a new label after you saved the previous one to your computer file. I haven't used it in a while but I seem to have to go out and choose the editor again to get to the screen that allows me to choose New otherwise it is over writing the previous label and when you go back to the saved copy of the original one has changed
Available for iOS and Android mobile devices, the Brother P-touch Design&Print app for the P-touch CUBE and P-touch CUBE Plus label printers let you design and print labels using your device's Bluetooth connection.
LEGO Brick Labels were carefully designed for Brother P-touch label printers, which I selected because the labels are printed on durable plastic tape with a strong adhesive. (You can move them to a different container as your storage system evolves.)
Mike, you can make your own strip containing labels from multiple files (by copy/pasting them), but you can not combine many labels into one giant label that can be printed as a single long strip. The software has limits on how long each strip can be, unfortunately.
